The Museum of History of Armenia, founded in 1921, is located in the Republic Square. The museum’s heritage includes over 400,000 exhibits, from prehistoric times to the present-day society. Here you can see historical documents, ancient household items, clothing and accessories, medieval weapons, carriages and coins that were used in Armenia at different times. Martiros Saryan House-Museum – The spacious building along with its studio was built in 1932 for the great Armenian painter Martiros Saryan. During the life of the painter, thousands of visitors came from different countries. Saryan’s numerous works are exhibited at well-known museums around the world – Russia, France, Great Britain, the United States, etc. Visiting the house-museum, you can see the artist’s studio, as well as the building adjacent to it, buy souvenirs made from his paintings.
Parajanov Museum – a well-known filmmaker, who has never lived in Armenia, bequeathed his working heritage to his historical homeland. In 1988, an unusual museum was created in Yerevan based on the selection of Sergei Parajanov’s works. Here visitors can see sketches for Parajanov’s films, as well as get acquainted with other spheres of his works. The exhibition includes collages, equipment, dolls, ceramic goods, etc.
